The Details

While scrolling through facebook one night, Mike came across a picture of a little cabin which was lofted up into the treetops, and just that an idea was born. Through a lot of hard work, and a little bit of good fortune, we were able to welcome our first guests on October 1st, 2021.

These treetop units are nestled high up in our sugar bush forest. And while situated up in the trees, we spared no expense to bring you a year round experience that you will not soon forget.

Both units feature amenities you would not expect to have up in the trees

Bathrooms with showers, flushing toilets and lots of hot water

Fully stocked kitchenettes with refrigeration and cooking appliances

And multiple places to relax and take it all in.

We want you to have the best time during your stay, here's some of our activity suggestions

01

Hiking

The area is home to a great number of hiking trails. If you’re looking for an easy stroll along a groomed

trail, or a challenging hike that takes you to scenic views and gets your heart beating, we have them all.

Check out https://discoveryroutes.ca/south-river/ for trails and their descriptions.

03

Fishing

Whether fishing from a public access dock or a boat, the countless number of lakes in the immediate

area offer a glimpse of the fantastic fishing found in Northern Ontario.

Bass, walleye, trout, perch and pike are just some of the great species of fish found in our local lakes.

*Boat rentals are available nearby at the Eagle Lake Narrows

05

Snowmobiling

We are located just off of the trails, if snowmobiling is your thing, we are a great spot to choose. Use us

as a launching point for your day trips, or as a rest stop for your longer trips. If you don’t have your own

sled, and feel like giving some of our trails a go, rentals can be arranged at the Eagle Lake Narrows for as

little as half a day.

02

Swimming & Beaches

There are many beaches nearby that offer wonderful opportunities for swimming and more. The closest option is the Eagle Lake Narrows. Here you will find a large sand beach, picnic tables, and restrooms. After a dip in the lake, cross the street to the general store where you will find some of the best ice cream and pizza around.

If you are interested in other options, just ask! We know all the local spots to cool off.

04

Canoeing & Kayaking

Rentals are available nearby at the Eagle Lake Narrows or in town from Swift Canoes. There are a ton of great places to put in and explore, but if we had to choose one to recommend, it would be at Tom Thompson Park on Forest Lake. This quiet body of water provides some of the best scenery in the area and has lots of little places to explore. All the local lakes are also great in their own right and we are happy to provide directions to all of the public access spots.

06

Snowshoeing & Cross Country Skiing

Snowshoe rentals can be arranged right on the site. Enjoy the 1.5km trait right behind your unit, or explore the many local trails mentioned under "hiking." One of our favorite recommendations is Mikisew Provincial Park. During the winder months it is free to use and has some great groomed trails for skiing and snowshoeing

  • Can I bring my dog?
We love dogs, and we want you to be able to enjoy your time with your furry friend. We accept dogs under 2 conditions. Firstly, we need your assurance that your pet will have no negative impact on the units, or other guests experience. (ie. Jumping up on furniture or barking) Secondly, since even the best behaved pet results in us needing to do a more thorough cleaning, we do charge a one time pet fee of $30.

  • I have a snowmobile / boat trailer, will I have room to park?"
Your parking spot is 30’ deep. In most cases a truck with a small trailer should fit. During the summer and fall, an additional parking area can be made available if you plan to bring a boat trailer.

  • Can we have a campfire?
Definitely! – But there are a few things you need to know. Because we are in the middle of the woods, extreme care should be taken. Please keep your fire small, contained to the fireplace, and use the spark arrestor. Additionally, fires should never be left unattended and when you are done, please douse your fire with water or snow. We are also able to offer a “Bon Fire in a Bin” for a fee. This will include a good amount of dry hardwood, kindling and newspaper.

  • How close will I be to the other unit?
The two units are about 200’ apart, separated by forest. You will know the other unit is nearby, but we are confident that you will have privacy that many seek when they book with us.

  • There are more than 2 of us, can we still stay here?"
We have designed this space with couples in mind. Any more than 2 people and we believe that it will begin to take away from the experience we desire guests to have. For that reason we unfortunately are unable to accept bookings of more than 2 people.

  • Are the bugs very bad?
Not in January they aren’t :) Black fly season starts in late May and goes until the end of June. In order to enjoy time outdoors, full bug gear is needed. Spray alone wont cut it. Usually by the end of June the mosquitos are coming out and they can be managed by using bug spray. By August most of the bugs have died off from the warmer weather and aren’t too big of a concern. We are believers that every season (including bug season) has something great to offer, so long as you are prepared.
